Sports cars are one of the few topics which interest everyone and everyone has a say in. Depending on the individual's preference, there may be numerous favorites. However, looking from an enthusiasts point of view who takes into account all intricacies involved in a vehicle, there are only a few that reach the top. Before listing - in cooperation with car enthusiast Frederik Van Everbroeck - the coolest sports cars to have hit the road, it is important to know what a sports car is defined as.

What is a sports car?

Sports car is different from regular cars in terms of their performance. Performance includes two important aspects - mechanical and driving. A good sports car would not only have great looks, but would also be such that that it shifts on the slightest touch, can accelerate in no time and can also come to a stand stop within a few seconds. They are installed with high performance engines that are absent in regular cars. In layman terms, they are fast motor cars.

Over the years, many car manufacturing companies have rolled their versions of sports vehicles in the market. Some have been huge successes while the others didn't catch anyone's eye. A few of the coolest sports cars include (they have not been ranked):

a) Jaguar E - Type: One of the best 4 wheelers to have been launched by Jaguar, it has the capacity to go from 0 - 60 in 7 seconds flat and has a top speed of 240 km/h. While it may not sound to be the fastest in 2010, it sure was when it was launched in 1960s.

b) Ferrari Enzo: A new generation vehicle, this cool sports car was launched in the year 2002 by Ferrari. It has a top speed of 350 km/h with 0 - 60 in 3.3 seconds. Driving one of these is a huge adrenalin booster.

c) Ferrari 250 GTO: Another one of the Ferraris, the 250 GTO was under production from the year 1962 - 1963. It was and is still considered to be one of the most beautiful sports cars of all times. It has a top speed of 280 km/h and can reach from 0 - 60 in 5.8 seconds.

d) Porche 911: Porche is a renowned car manufacturing company and their vehicle that got highest attention was the Porche 911. With a 2 door structure and a rear engine, it has the looks that can impress anyone. Its 435 hp engine is capable of hitting 60 in 4 seconds and can run at a maximum speed of 195 km/h.

e) McLaren F1: It has the engine of a Formula 1 car thus making it probably one of the fastest cars to have hit the road being available for public. The engine is a whooping 627 hp and the car can attain a top speed of 386 km/h. 0 - 60 is in 3.2 seconds.

These are just some of the coolest sports cars known to us. There are many from other Japanese, European and American manufacturers that have been able to make a mark and reach great heights in popularity.
